Pat­toka Tim­ber Barn

Back in 1768, the tim­ber barn “Schrotholzsche­une” in Bergen was built in the typ­i­cal log house style of the Lausitz region. It is home to exhi­bi­tions about Sor­bian cul­ture and a demon­stra­tion work­shop. The barn is sur­rounded by a lovely gar­den with colour­ful flow­ers and fra­grant herbs. The mas­ter glass and porce­lain painter Bir­git Pat­toka takes vis­i­tors on tours of the tim­ber barn. She shares inter­est­ing sto­ries and infor­ma­tion about the Sorbs’ work­ing meth­ods, cus­toms and their funny leg­ends. Hand-painted glass and porce­lain is pre­sented in the demon­stra­tion work­shop.
Event tip: annual spe­cial exhi­bi­tion “Spring­time/East­er­time” from the start of spring until early sum­mer, with more than 1,000 dec­o­rated Easter eggs from around the world, from the Lausitz region and the vil­lages of the Elster­heide region.
