With a length of 11 kilo­me­tres, the route around Lake Bern­stein­see is well suited to more leisurely cycle tours. The lake is designed for low-impact tourism, so the main fea­tures of the route are oppor­tu­ni­ties for sim­ple, relaxed nature spot­ting. With a bit of luck you may be able to observe a crane by the side of the cycle trail. Lake Bern­stein­see has a strik­ing turquoise colour, which is par­tic­u­larly notice­able when seen from the air.

Start/end (rec­om­mended): Burgham­mer near Spree­tal
Park­ing: On the north­ern shore, at the rest area near the vil­lage of Burgham­mer
Ter­rain: The cir­cu­lar route mainly fol­lows the asphalt loop around the lake, but the west­ern sec­tion runs along the cycle paths sign­posted as Lower Lusa­tia Min­ing Route and Frog Cycle Route. It is pre­dom­i­nantly flat.

The posts give the name of the lake, the num­ber of the cir­cu­lar route, the cur­rent dis­tance in kilo­me­tres, the direc­tion of the kilo­me­tre count and the spe­cific GPS loca­tion. The loop trail around Lake Bern­stein­see is cir­cu­lar lake route no. 5.
