Cycle route around Lake Sen­ften­berg

There is plenty for cyclists to dis­cover on the var­ied 17 kilo­me­tre loop trail around Lake Sen­ften­berg. You can enjoy fine views of the lake’s dis­tinc­tive island, a des­ig­nated nature con­ser­va­tion area, from all sides. The pas­sen­ger boats Santa Bar­bara and Aqua Phönix offer cyclists the option of tak­ing a bit of a short­cut across the lake. Koschen Canal, which con­nects Lake Sen­ften­berg and Lake Geier­swalde, was the first nav­i­ga­ble link to be estab­lished in the Lusa­t­ian Lake­land and is well worth a quick detour.

• A num­ber of swim­ming beaches and sun­bathing lawns, e.g. in Grosskoschen, Niemtsch, Buch­walde, Sen­ften­berg and Südsee
• Scenic views: The Schiefer Turm (lean­ing tower) on the south­ern shore of Lake Sen­ften­berg is 31.5 metres high. At ten degrees, its tilt is greater than that of the Lean­ing Tower of Pisa. The view­ing plat­form pro­vides mag­nif­i­cent views of the islands, which are des­ig­nated nature con­ser­va­tion areas.

Tip: At the Hafen­camp camp­site you can hire ped­a­los, kayaks and stand-up pad­dle boards. Niemtsch has a swim­ming beach where you can also hire wind­surf­ing boards. The area of the lake between the island and Sen­ften­berg marina is excel­lent for wind­surf­ing.
